Thurrock Council are seeking an exceptional and committed individual to join us as an Employee Relations Advisor. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment, with a team of professional Employee Relations colleagues providing expert advice, coaching and support to line managers on HR cases and employee relations interventions and projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing standard casework from inception to resolution
  • Providing advice and support for organisation restructures and the implementation of the Organisational Change Policy
  • Identification of trends, patterns, and gaps in data/information, conduct analyses to solve/resolve routine problems and issues with short to medium term consequences. 
  • Supporting the delivery and ongoing management of recruitment activity, management of Occupational Health cases and redeployment cases
  • Facilitate and strengthen the relationships between the organisations and the recognised Trade Unions
  • Effectively manage consultation and negotiations as required
  • Manage employee disputes process (e.g. mediation, tribunal etc) to a positive outcome
  • Support building managerial capability in good people practices 
  • Continually monitor and review the quality of people practices and HR policies to ensure legal compliance and fit for purpose

Key Competencies

  • Broad depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in the practical application of organisation HR Policy and employment law
  • Ability to communicate and engage at all levels
  • Ability to resolve challenging situation and issues using critical and analytical thinking, initiative and judgement in the resolution of problems giving a positive outcome for all parties.
  • Experience of coaching, influencing, and providing constructive challenge
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to analyse and interpret data to inform improvements in service and organisational outcomes
  • Proficient digital skills, MS365 suite and Oracle HCM
  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is not required for this post
