Reward Consultant

Fixed Term (12 months), Full Time (37 hours per week)

£47,621 to £56,025 per annum

Location: Chelmsford

Working Style: Anywhere worker*

*The successful applicant will be required to attend the Chelmsford offices for collaboration as well as for team meetings, this typically averages 1 to 2 days per week.

 

Please note this role will be offered on a fixed-term contract or secondment basis for 12 months.

ECC is one of the largest and most dynamic local authorities in the UK and is undergoing significant transformational change to further enhance customer focus, service and delivery.

This role is key in researching, developing and implementing reward and benefits strategies and processes for ECC that support our performance pay and total reward philosophies.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Working at the centre of a wide business network, advising and influencing internal customers as a core expert on reward who can move easily between the strategic design and tactical delivery of leading edge reward and benefits systems.

 

  • Identify reward and performance solutions, using external best practice and national networks, to propose a best fit for implementation within Essex County Council.

 

  • Contribute to the effectiveness of HR Service delivery measured against key performance indicators to inform continuing development.

 

  • Initiate and develop strong relationships, building networks with national and regional organisations, local councils and other partnerships, in order to identify and source best practice to improve the provision and delivery of reward and performance and enhance the reputation of the Council

 

  • Contribute to a reward strategy for the Council based around the concept of “total reward” aligned to business needs, strategic workforce planning and the People Plan to help the development and delivery of an innovative reward package to meet both current & future business needs.

 

  • Contribute to and maintain a pay and reward structure across the Council, including executive pay and conditions of service.

 

  • Act as a source of expertise on issues relating to reward and recognition with ownership of the job evaluation policy and processes.

 

  • Responsible for contractual elements of rewards and benefits initiatives, including annual review, procurement and contract renewal (for example, Private Medical Health Insurance).

 

  • Develop an innovative Reward package for ECC employees agreed with stakeholders, socialised, understood and communicated to across the whole organisation.

 

  • Contribute to initiatives concerning grading structures and job levels (i.e. such as Job Families).

 

You'll do great here if you can demonstrate you have:

 

  • A degree in human resources or related professional field or equivalent by experience.

 

  • Associate of the CIPD, CIPP or other relevant professional body.

 

  • A detailed understanding of a range of reward and performance functions, practice and procedure in a modern HR environment.

 

  • Experience of utilising a consultancy approach to add value or drive continuous improvement in a large, complex, matrix environment.

 

  • Experience of devising and implementing complex management of change or other HR commissioned projects.

 

  • Record of achievement in a strategic HR environment in a large organisation delivering policy and procedure aligned to corporate goals or in an operational /advice & consultancy role where such experience could be used as a solid foundation to move into a strategic role.
