Unlock system-wide value across significant levels of spend
Local Government Reorganisation creates a unique opportunity to rethink how councils commission, procure and manage third-party spend.
We are looking for an experienced procurement advisor with experience of delivering complex procurement programmes working across the breadth of Council services.
You will lead strategic procurement planning and deliver across the LGR programme for South East Essex, identifying opportunities to aggregate spend and contracting, reshape markets and deliver better outcomes for residents.
You will work closely with finance, legal and service leaders to ensure procurement becomes a strategic lever for transformation, not just a compliance function.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to design a smarter, more intentional approach to local procurement while redefining the relationship between councils and their supply chains.
What makes this different
- Ability to influence procurement strategy at system level.
- Direct link to transformation priorities and financial sustainability.
- Opportunity to shape future operating models.
- A role that connects commercial thinking directly to the future design of local government services.
You will bring
- Strong commercial and procurement expertise.
- Ability to identify and deliver strategic opportunities at scale.
- Confidence working across organisational boundaries.
- A practical understanding of how procurement can enable transformation and service improvement.
