People Consultant - People and Employer Services Team - £42,000 to £47,000 per annum

This vacancy is being recruited on behalf of Local Government East, who will be your employer.

A fantastic opportunity to join a small team which supports and co-ordinates all things HR/OD across the East of England – covering six county areas and 50 councils.  You will be providing a service to our colleagues in HR across the region.  Every day is different and this is a great way to learn more about local government and the challenges it faces.  It goes without saying that you will be part of an awesome team which has a growth mindset and is up for any challenge which comes our way.

What will I be doing?

  • Responding to queries on the Helpdesk – normally by email
  • Working with the team on standard monthly meeting organisation/facilitation
  • Contributing to our quarterly publication – HR Dispatches
  • Meeting with council HR leads to discuss challenges, seek feedback and check in that our service to them is exceeding expectations
  • Collating survey feedback and communicating to the region
  • Working with the team on national initiatives such as the National Recruitment Campaign
  • Communicating out key information to councils such as details on the pay award each year

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience of working as part of a HR team in local government or other public sector organisation
  • Ability to learn whilst doing the role – there will be support in place to help you to succeed
  • Good working knowledge of the Green Book (NJC) – or know where to look to answer questions on national terms and conditions of employment
  • Curiosity and great customer service skills
